Galsworthy is an excellent writer within his particular genre. His characters develop, one way or the other; his story line, though often complex, is easy to follow; and his insights into the human animal seem, to me at least, to be usually accurate and at times profound. He is not William Faulkner, but he can be mentioned in the same breath. I would recommend his work to any person who wishes to read "serious fiction". I would also suggest that one begin with the first volume of the first trilogy.
