W G Sebald

W. G. Sebald was born in Germany in 1944 and settled permanently in England in 1970, where he was Professor of European Literature at the University of East Anglia until his premature death in 2001. He was the author notably of four indispensable works of fiction: The Emigrants, The Rings of Saturn, Vertigo and Austerlitz. Anthea Bell has translated numerous literary works from French, German, Danish, and Polish, including W.G. Sebald's Austerlitz (2001).
