Ruth Skilbeck, PhD, has worked as a freelance features writer, arts journalist and radio script writer and presenter for the BBC World Service Book Choice program. Her essays and stories appear in peer-reviewed journals, books and periodicals including Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies, the Journal for the Motherhood Initiative in Research and Community Involvement, Pacific Journalism Review, the International Journal of the Arts in Society, Art Collector, The Irish Times. She has a PhD in literature, and an MA in creative writing from the University of Technology Sydney, and BA honours in philosophy from the University of London. She has lived and made her living as a writer in Dublin, London, and Sydney. In 1980 she moved to Adelaide to go to university but left in the beginning of second year, and moved overseas, to Ireland. She later moved to back to London where she was born, then to Australia.
