Renato Bettio (Dr. Roberto Arévalo Araujo MD, FACP) was born in El Salvador. After finishing high school, he traveled to Mexico to continue studying and graduated as a doctor and a surgeon from UNAM in 1970. He then worked at the Oakwood Hospital (Dearborn, MI) and at CMDNJ in New Jersey. There he also studied Hematology and Oncology as a subspecialty. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, as well as in Hematology and Oncology. He is the founder of the Cancer and Hematology Center at Pasco County, Florida, a center that offers radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy. He is also a founder of the Medical Mission of Mercy/Medical Mission International, whose goal is to take free medical, surgical, and ophthalmologic attention to homeless people east of El Salvador. This mission has been recognized by the Congress at El Salvador and was nominated for a Nobel Prize. Now, he brings to you, dear reader, a piece of the inspiration his soul embraces. He writes stories about impunity and misery that affect his Central American fellow countrymen. Yet he also ascribes himself to the tangible faith of those affected. In them, in spite of their suffering, the longing for life doesn't go out; they have a philosophy that keeps them thinking that it's better to be. See less
