Pauline Smith was born and brought up in the small market town of Bideford, North Devon, England. Pauline Smith was born and brought up in the small market town of Bideford, North Devon, England. After a 30-year career in television where she became a film and video editor, she returned to university in Exeter to develop her writing skills. Gaining an MA with Distinction in Creative Writing gave her the impetus and confidence to begin researching and publishing her work. Her first book Tales of the Torridge - short stories based on the maritime history of her home town and the surrounding area - was published in 2015. Space Junk is her second work and will be followed later this year by a memoir entitled Born in the Fifties: A Catalogue of Small Things. For the past nine years, she has lived by the sea in France where, after teaching English for several years, she is now concentrating on writing. See less
