My name is Panos Georgiou Marneris. I was born in 1952 in Tyros. My mother language is Tsakonian. I became a seaman two months before my eighteenth birthday and I travelled to the USA by ship. I stayed in New York in the USA as an illegal immigrant, but three or four years later I got married. At first, I was working at the restaurants then in construction. My name is Panos Georgiou Marneris. I was born in 1952 in Tyros. My mother language is Tsakonian. I became a seaman two months before my eighteenth birthday and I travelled to the USA by ship. I stayed in New York in the USA as an illegal immigrant, but three or four years later I got married. At first, I was working at the restaurants then in construction. Later on, I opened my own business which was a building supply company and a window factory. In September 1999, I lost my 19-year-old son in a car accident in front of my house, and that accident changed my life. I lived and worked in the USA for 47 years. In 2017, I came back home and from that date on I have been working to keep my language alive by teaching Tsakonian to children and adults. See less
