John McCann
John McCann was born in Banbridge, Northern Ireland, and studied French and Spanish at Queen's University Belfast. He became a lecturer in French at the Ulster Polytechnic, later the University of Ulster. Since 1987 he has been based at the Magee campus of the university, where he has had a range of academic and administrative responsibilities. His research interests are in nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature and he has already published on Houellebecq.
