Eileen Gray
Eileen Gray, born in Enniscorthy, Ireland, in 1878, studied painting in London and moved to Paris in 1906, where she opened her own lacquer store in 1922. She designed two homes in France and participated at the 1937 Paris Expo sition. Her furniture was the unexpect ed hit of a 1972 auction. Today many of her designs are considered to be classics of the 20th century furniture design. She died in Paris in 1976.
