After more than 40 years of teaching thousands of students, writing scientific research publications, presenting at national and international scientific meetings, and spending uncountable joy-filled hours studying the beauty and complexity of life with all types of microscopes, he is now retired with his wife in TN. Steen thinks of himself as a gentleman farmer, photographer, and woodworker. But most of all he enjoys time with his two grown children, three grandsons, and three great grandchildren.
