Ava Kadishson Schieber

Schieber was born near Belgrade. Her mother converted to Judaism and her father had changed his name to receive a commission in the Austro-Hungarian army during WWI. She lived in hiding with her sister's fiance's relatives for four years during WWII, after which she was reunited with her mother. Later they moved to Israel, but has been living in Chicago for the past 20 years.
