What is Book Fetch?
Book Fetch is our automated want list matching service. If you can't find a book you want on our Web site, we'll be happy to let you know when the book is added to our inventory. Submit a request to Book Fetch, and we'll keep sniffing around for your book. Every time a book gets added to the Alibris inventory, Book Fetch will check to see if it matches your request. If Book Fetch finds a match, you will be notified immediately via e-mail.
How can I update my Book Fetch request list?
Adding, deleting, or changing items on your Book Fetch request list is easy and you can do it at any time. Go to Book Fetch and click the Change or Delete Your Requests link to update your list.
How long will Book Fetch search?
Book Fetch will do a continual search for your book until you delete your request. You can edit or delete the search at any time by clicking on the Change or Delete your Requests link from this page.
How can I get the best results with Book Fetch?
Book Fetch makes it easy to locate that hard-to-find book. Follow these tips to get the most out of Book Fetch:
- Enter the title of the book from the beginning. Book Fetch matches the title you enter from left to right, not by keyword.
- Enter the author, last name first. (Entering the last name and first initial may get you the best results.)
- Enter the ISBN (with either 10 or 13 digits), excluding spaces or dashes. Remember, not all books are listed with ISBNs; you may get better results searching only by title and author.
- Use the Narrow Your Search By fields with care; these fields will limit your matches! Try entering two Book Fetch requests (one with limiters and one without) for the same book and compare the results.
- Remember: Less is more and more is less! The more search terms you enter, the fewer matches you'll receive.
- Be meticulous with your spelling. Book Fetch will send you only exact matches to your request.
