"Bob's keen observations and unique insights pair well. Writings of Warmth, Wonder, Worth and Woe offers the reader reflections on a smorgasbord of topics spanning a lifetime, including poems preserved for decades as well as newly minted pieces. Through it all, Bob reminds us to pay close attention to the ordinary, for therein lies the extraordinary." - Sandy Lardinois, Author This is Bob Hurd's first published book. Although he's been writing poetry most of his life, it wasn't until his late sixties that he decided to take the plunge and present his works publicly. Bob is a mid-westerner born in Sioux Falls South Dakota and has lived in Rock Valley Iowa, Yankton South Dakota, and South Sioux City Nebraska, until finally settling in Milwaukee in 1964. In 1973, Bob joined the Air Force, serving 21 years, and along with his wife, raised two boys. The four traveled the US and Europe on various assignments. Bob has always observed the world around him, questioning the contradictions, wondering how some events are allowed to happen while challenging cultural norms and conventions. Being a troubleshooter and problem solver, Bob tries to employ the logical concepts provided by William of Ockham, (or Occam) a scholastic philosopher in the 1300th century referred to as Ockham's Razor which postulates that the simplest solution to a problem tends to be the right one. A more modern interpretation of the Razor may be "Keep It Simple Stupid!" Bob likes writing poetry because of poetry's propensities for brief and meaningful expressions.
