Dr. Hobbs grew up on a farm in Deep East Texas. His interest in agriculture led him to Texas A & M University where he received his BS degree in Agricultural Education followed by MS and PhD degrees in Plant Pathology. After many years of varied experiences in plant related agriculture, he and his wife Betty spent four years in Liberia, West Africa from 1986 to 1990 as Agricultural Missionaries. During this time, God used them to reach a few key people who have been able to win many of their own people to Christ, plant churches, and establish a boarding school named in memory of Betty. Betty Memorial Institute is helping many orphans and very poor children, who would not have otherwise had an opportunity for education. The dream lives on as provision is made for a high school with oppor-tunities in vocational education.
