With an opening Allegro of sinewy strength, a central Lento of solemn emotion, and a closing Allegro of ironic ferocity, Arnold's Third is great music and don't think the conductor doesn't know it because it is Malcolm Arnold himself who's leading the London Philharmonic in what was then the world-premiere recording of the work.
