Seller's Description:
Fine book in a very good dust jacket. 248 pages. First Edition. Adventure novel set in the Balkans by the author of To Catch a Thief. Gift inscription on front endpaper, else about fine, in very good plus dustjacket with trace rubbing and edge wear, short creased tear at lower edge of rear panel.
I picked this book up at a used book store, not knowing who the author was (but now I discover he also wrote To Catch A Thief (great movie with Cary Grant & Grace Kelly)). This book was an excellent read - takes place in an Iron Curtain country in the 1950's - I quote from the synopsis: "Jess Matthews, a fully accredited foreign correspondent, had come into the People's Free Federal Republic in comfort on the Orient Express. But events had moved too swiftly in the Balkans and now he was trying, desparately, to escape from that terrorized country....he had the company of Cora Lambert, an ambitious and attractive American newspaper woman....for Jess and Cora had learned a secret that could destoy Bulic, head of the dreaded Security Police, and to Bulic it was a choice of his life or theirs." Very exciting, with an interesting twist at the end. A great post World War II thriller!
