Anyone who has read Plainsong and Eventide know what a great writer Mr. Harup is. This first effort demonstrates his development as a writer when compared to his two later works. The story dragged, seemed lost at times, and the character development so prominent in his later works was lacking here. To the extent this work furthered the development of this author then it was worth it. Standing alone it was average at best.
