With unbelievable plot "twists" (I use the word advisedly, as the sudden departures from anything resembling reality don't seem to be thought out, simply slapped onto the page) this novel is irritating. There are two chapters that contain good writing: chapter 9 is a character sketch of Sam. Properly developed, it could be the basis of an engaging novel. Chapter 11 details the background and motivation of Lavender, and it, too, could serve as the basis of something worth reading. I finished this book because I didn't want to pay the $5 fine my book club charges members who do not finish the chosen work.

Better Than The TV Movie
I read the book after I watched the TV movie. The movie was delightful but the book was better. I try to read all the books that are made into movies. Most movies stick to the books. Some don't and I am sure have to be edited and modified to be interesting to the public. I am not judging, just like reading more than watching. Thank you
