That aria is sung by the big-voiced and intense Chilean Puccini specialist Cristina Gallardo-Domâs, whose singing inspires divergent reactions. Almost everything else is a safe choice, however, with José Carreras, Kiri Te Kanawa, and Plácido Domingo among the multiply represented singers.
