A question of national importance. The Constitution provides protection against the encroachment of religious power upon the civil government as a safeguard to liberty. This protection remains intact only as long as the basic truth is recognized that no man can allow any legislation favoring his own religious beliefs. Violating this principle will result in the loss of his own religious freedom. The subjects in this book should never become secondary in the mind of any American citizen: The principles of the American Constitution. The proper relationship between religion and the State. The distinction between moral and civil law. The inalienable civil and religious rights of men. This book is a report of an argument made concerning the national Sunday bill that was introduced by Senator Blair in the fiftieth Congress.

This book is a must read for everyone concerned about our religious freedoms, being the actual transcript of the testimony that A.T.Jones gave before the U.S. Senate Committee on Education and Labor in Dec. 1888 (and it is NOT dull reading!!). At that time there was a movement afoot across the country to pass a national Sunday law, in part, as an attempt to "bring this nation back under God." As Jones lucidly proves, while such a concept seems honorable, it is sure destruction for our First Amendment rights.
