Another Time, Another Place
Those who have enjoyed Roy Clarke's TV series 'Last of the Summer Wine' will find 'The Moonbather' a real treat. It comes from very early on in the forming of that series, when it still was only in print. A tall 'bean pole' of a man who believes moonbathing will help heal his spots, gets caught-up in the slightly askew world of Compo and company as they try to find cover and explanations for their nighttime ramblings.
If you enjoy audio books and can find it, 'The Moonbather' and 'Gala Week' read by Peter Sallis (Clegg) are absolute favorites of mine. Though I am a big fan of Bill Owen's Compo, Peter Sallis' version of Compo predates the Bill Owen portrayal and is quite wonderful in it's own way.
