Genevieve Pitot was one of the last concert artists to make reproducing rolls; although American, her rolls were made in France in the late '20s. Chaminade, of course, is the famous composer, and this disc includes most of her rolls, made in London in 1921. Both of these artists made conventional recordings, though not many, and in Chaminade's case, she thoroughly detested the ones she did make. Among Pitot's recorded performances one may find the legendary 1934 Radiana Pazmor New Music Quarterly recording of Charles Ives' song General William Booth Enters into Heaven, the first of this work made, on which Pitot served as piano accompanist. Later in life, Pitot was renowned as a composer for the Broadway stage. The transfers here are very well made and are heard in terrific sound.
