I was introduced to "Frank" in college by a philosophy major I held in deep lust. The pure esoterics of this comic blew me away. After 15 years, I saw something that reminded me of "Frank," hunted about, and found the best price at Alibris.com bar none. This is not a quick 'read,' even without any words. I find myself turning the pages back to reread what happened. Woodring is incredible. His color comics are beautiful. Tho the subject matter is sometimes gruesome, even gorey, it's so fantastic that you can't look away! It's incredible how someone can say so much without 'saying' a word. Woodring is able to evince subtexts within very simple contexts with cartoonish facial expression beyond any explanation. I wouldn't suggest this for children younger than 14, as the subject matter is on a different plane of existence. I would suggest "Frank" for anyone who enjoys being made to second guess assumptions. Woodring's comics are works of art.
