When a flash of pink was spotted in a cloud of gray gulls over Newburyport, Massachusetts, ten thousand people descended on the town in hopes of seeing a rare Ross's gull from Siberia. Among them were Pete and Linda Dunne, who set off from there on a year-long odyssey. Dunne had poured the most remarkable stories, birds, and characters into this unforgettable book about their once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

The Feather Quest is an accurate account of what it is like to go birding. If you know anything or nothing at all about birds, it is well written and entertaining. If you do bird, then you will find excellent tips as well as humorous stories. Although it is not a newly released publication, it is relevant and is like a snapshot of what birding was like years ago, as far as how many birds there were. You will find that birding itself has not changed all that much, although the numbers of birds has greatly decreased. There is also an appeal to the traveler in the reader since the author and his wife go to all the most excellent places in North America and describe wonderfully their experiences. I have already purchased an extra copy for a friend which is an indication that this book rates very high, and I still may purchase another to share.
