I first read this book, a baby gift , to my daughter Sara , who's now 23, when she was about four months old. It is a wonderful little book, a long poem about a ship's cat's fantastical adventures in Elizabethan times. But the best thing about this book is the fabulous, detailed full-page illustrations. I must have read this book a thousand times to Sara and by the time she was three, pages were missing and torn and various substances had been dripped onto others. When she was grown up and deciding which books to keep from her childhood, we were both distressed to see the state The Ship's Cat was in, and I was able to buy a like-new replacement for Sara through Alibris. But because I loved the book so much and it brought back so many precious memories, I bought another copy through Allibris for myself to keep!
