Terrazo es un libro que se inclina a la representaci???n realista, y cruda, de lo que ocurri??? en nuestra isla a mediados del Siglo 20. Estas historias son refrescantes y muy necesitadas para balancear un poco el contenido del libro ya que una y cada historia de este libro deja sus mensajes claros y nos ense???a que desde hace mucho, hemos estado sufriendo la p???rdida perpetua de una patria. Abelardo D???az Alfaro utiliza una prosa bell???sima, evocando la cultura campesina puertorrique???a y que se siente como si estuviese pintando el paisaje con palabras. En el mismo hay historias que dejan claro que son vivencias del mismo Alfaro. La forma en que organiz??? las historias es excelente, comenzando con la del Josco, una narraci???n simple pero efectiva, de la pelea entre el toro de la isla y un toro americano que lo reta en posici???n de padrote. Alfaro usa ambos toros y los personajes que los rodean como s???mbolos que expresan su desasosiego sobre la descarga americana en la isla, por eso dice mucho al final de la historia, el Josco prefiere sacrificarse ???l mismo antes de ser dominado por el yugo. Las implicaciones de este final se hacen claras y sin duda muchos de los campesinos de la ???poca se debieron sentir igual.
