Interesting insight into making movies in the silent era, along with the Hollywood elite and their lifestyles during this period. Easy and interesting reading.

Superb
Superb autobiography by a great star. Swanson's story is not just the story of a young actress in movies, it's the story of movies as well. She started in films in 1915 and was a major star by the end of the decade, starring in Cecil B. DeMille's sumptuous domestic dramas like Don't Change Your Husband and Why Change Your Wife and the famous Male and Female, complete with a lion. Swanson never threw anything away. So when she set about to tell the story of her life she had files of material: letters, contracts, reviews, articles, pictures. The book is a feast for anyone interested in Swanson, silent films, and other big names of the era. She knew everyone. From her marriages and affairs, the scoop on Hollywood, the Oscars, the making of Sunset Boulevard, and even healthy eating, Swanson talks about it all. The book is meticulously researched and beautifully written. A must for all film buffs.
