English summary: On October 22, 1941, twenty-seven members of the French Resistance were executed in response to the assassination of a German officer in Nantes. The official reporter of this episode, Ernst Junger, traces the events leading up to the execution, describing the difficulty of the situation. He also provides the letters written to their loved ones by the twenty-seven men. French translation of the German original.
