Superman: Red son is a very good book that I can't recommend enough. The story focuses around an alternate universe where Superman grows up in Soviet Russia. I won't give away any spoilers but suffice to say many jokes are made by mirroring Superman's American upbringing and traditional past.
Overall the book is extremely well written with a very compelling story showing how the world might possibly be different were Superman not American. In the hands of some authors this book might have been a terrible failure, but Mark Millar pulls it off, creating one of the best alternate reality graphic novels I've read to date. Read it.
