She previously taught graduate courses as an adjunct faculty member in New York University's Museum Studies Program. -- This is an overdue project about an overlooked area of African American film and media history because it is remarkable that so many of these films have survived, but this is still the first monograph on black-cast Soundies. -- Turning on a Dime contributes to our well-rounded reputation in our primary film and media studies list. It has potential for appeal to other primary lists and to general readers while also aligning with the strengths of IU, including the Black Film Center/Archive. -- The audience includes undergraduates, general readers, and scholars interested in film and media history, history of American popular culture, music, and African American culture.
