This was a quick read yet very informative regarding Portia's life and singing career. The photos are an asset . The book places you into her life as she grew up during a time when dark raced people such as herself were treated like dirty objects. I appreciate the fact that the author did not try to leave out these important facts of history that all readers should be informed of!
