The first two works on this album -- Saint-Saëns' Symphony No. 3, "Organ," and Poulenc's Concerto for organ, strings, and tympani -- might seem a good match for inclusion on an album if for no other reason than their use of the organ and both having been composed by Frenchmen. But these compositions have more specific ties with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and its conductor at the time, Charles Münch.
