This reference is important as institutions enter what appears to be a new era of student activism, as institutions respond to external constituencies who demand university control of student behavior off campus, and as institutions struggle to refrain from returning to the days of in loco parentis. This publication provides contemporary discussions regarding six specific areas of concern, including freedom of access to higher education, freedom of expression and protection against improper academic evaluation, protection against improper disclosure of student records, student affairs issues, off-campus freedom of students, and student judicial proceedings.
