I tried to obtain a copy of this book, as titled above and so described, from two different booksellers. Both sent me "Queen Victoria: From her birth to the death of the Prince Consort ". The second replaced it with "Queen Victoria Born to Succeed " by Elizabeth Longford (Lady Packenham) Harper & Row New York 1964, which was a satisfactory substitute and gave me detailed access to the information I sought.
I wonder from this experience whether Cecil Woodham Smith's "Queen Victoria her life and times" was ever published in the US. I would rate Elizabeth Pakenham's book at **** out of flve
