His review of centuries of thievery indicates that librarians, clergymen, scholars and military men should be watched with special care, and that library patrons in general are a menace. Although this conclusion is not unusual among the guardians of public and private collections, the majority will, we hope, continue to make access to books as uncomplicated and unrestricted as cataloguing processes and reasonable precautions will permit.
