Also on the program are short works by equally important French composers Ysaÿe, Chausson, Chaminade, and Debussy. Performing these treasures are violinist Laurent Korcia and pianist Jean-Marc Luisada. From a technical perspective, the two musicians are a good match for one another, each seeming to hold the same ideals of tempo, articulation, rubato, and dynamics resulting in tight ensemble and a convincingly unified execution. Where they differ greatly is in their sound quality; whether this difference is a result of the recording technology used or each musician's personal sound aesthetic is not immediately clear.
