Field guides tend to be pretty personal - what works for one person may not work as well for another. I bought this for a trip to the Everglades and Florida Keys, and am mainly interested in birding (intermediate birder). I will probably take this book with me and supplement with my phone (iBird) and a couple Sibley fold-out guides.
Pros - Good size; not too heavy; sturdy binding; comprehensive - plants, trees, birds, mammals, sea life. Limited to Florida - I hope this will help me zero in on identifications more quickly (rather than taking a heavier field guide to the entire eastern US, for example).
Cons - the comprehensive nature is a con for me- I'd prefer fewer pages devoted to flowering plants and fish; more to birds. But that is the nature of comprehensive guides (sigh). Also, and this is clearly a personal preference, I prefer drawings of birds to photos, and this book is all photos. The photos are small, too (again, the nature of the comprehensive guide).
