Waters was also a particular favorite with the young British blues rock musicians who would bring the music to its greatest popularity, including the Yardbirds and the Rolling Stones (the latter group even took their name from one of Waters' songs). In 1981, Muddy Waters and his band were booked to headline Chicagofest, the city's biggest annual music festival, and the 66-year-old singer and guitarist showed an overflowing crowd that he was still one of the most powerful, charismatic bluesmen alive.
