This reissue combines two recordings, made respectively in 1989 and 1990, by the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne and its durable conductor Michel Corboz. Corboz founded the group in the early '60s, and its ranks of young singers have served as a training ground for a remarkable number of European careers. The two Mozart masses recorded here are both unfinished works, perhaps for that reason attracting an unusually wide variety of interpretation and speculation after the fact.
