Indeed, our Lord Jesus candidly told his disciples that they should be hated of all men for his name's sake; and that the time should come when those who should kill them, would be so filled with rage and blind ness that they should believe they were do ing God service. Let no one, therefore, be offended at the Christian religion because of malice, slander and persecution for Christ's sake. The seed of the bond woman has always hated the seed of the free woman. Holy and fallen angels cannot work together, for they are not agreed. Neither can men who hate Christ Jesus love those who would lay down their lives for the Son of God. These things are indeed strange. Why do men in spirit still cry, Release Barabbas and crucify Jesus? The reason is, that the carnal mind is enmity against God.
