Also known as "The Winston Affair"
B&W in India. I can understand the director's desire to lend a warfooting sense through the colorless presentation but maybe could have got a lot more milage out of the colorful backdrops of India. I know France Nuyen would have benefitted from being up there in color. While the drama plays out about trying to bend legal issues to present certain evidence, the idea of presenting the witness Nurse played by Nuyen was lost on the writers, director and producers. Had she been put on the stand, the romance subplot would have had more meaning. As it stands it ends pathetically. Keenan Wynn is outstanding in his crazy character development by nuances of his acting. Barry Sullivan was over the top as the commanding general (Whether his or director or script's fault goes unknown). The DVD I watched had an extra feature of having many of the publicity stills and a couple of behind the scenes pix but not enough and no commentary. Sad It is a good unusual story. Maybe someone will pick it up and retell it for what it's worth. War, love and the legal profession.
