The Czech Philharmonic, under Václav Neumann, recorded a complete survey of Mahler's symphonies, including the incomplete Symphony No. 10, between 1976 and 1982, and here, Bychkov kicks off a new survey with the Symphony No. 4 in G major. Shorter than the composer's other symphonies and with reduced orchestral scoring, the Fourth Symphony makes a good starting point for this cycle.
