The dark bass begins Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 with great majesty, and one can sense that Lang Lang is playing the piano with his whole body. His youthful energy makes the piece sparkle, makes the passages chase one another. Martha Argerich's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6 lilts and waltzes; one wants to dance and pause with her perfect rubatos.
