This is one of my favorite movies. The first dance number between Fred and Betty is supurb. I believe it would rank in the top five or six numbers Asaire ever performed. In fact, the first 3/4 of the movie is excellent. This movie should be better known than it is, and I wish they would release it on DVD, as my old VCR no longer works.

Hutton is underrated
Betty Hutton is one of the better dance partners Fred Astaire ever had. While Ginger (Rogers) remains queen of the ballroom, Betty is the princess for comedy routines with Fred, and for ballroom as well. This film was not as successful as some others involving different partners, but perhaps that's because the story line was a wee bit flimsy: Irresponsible man chases down-to-earth girl, alienates girl, then wins her back later (much too "later") but still hasn't changed his spots much.
However, it's all good fun and entertaining to watch, and the dance routines are great.
