Finely printed, decorated bookseller's label of the Plantation Book Shop, Natchez, Miss., on the front paste down. Some of the original letters of the famous French officer & "his son & other members of the family" were found "in an Oklahoma farm house", the property of a relative of Capt. Francis Allyn, "commander of the ship Cadmus in which Lafayette & his son came to the United Stated in 1824", at which time the Congress & Pres. Monroe placed great honors on him. Front hinge broken after frontispiece. Title-page foxed. Paper of rear paste down has wrinkles. Good. Very scarce. Rader 1031.
