It's as if a documentary cameraman was let loose in the royal court of the 17th Century Sun King, here played by Jean-Marie Patte. The use of unfamiliar actors in the major roles adds to the film's realism. Authenticity amazing, but not a MOVIE--similar to problem Sophia Capolla had with Marie Antionette, but better for student viewing because no sexy story line. My copy almost black & white its so faded, so look for a newer copy if you want full visual impact. Fine for my purposes, to show the control via ritual without seeming to attack some religion or another.
