"KiKi's Paris" recreates the experience of being part of what Marcel Duchamp called "the first really international colony of artists we ever had." It was the Paris of the American and other international ex-pats like Hemingway, Firzgerald, Stein, Sherwood Anderson, Aaron Copeland and artists such as Matisse, Picaso Dali and Braque. At the center of Montparnasse life was KiKi, priimarily an artists model in the 1920s. whose personal affairs with soon-to-be great artistic and literary figures of the day was legendary. Among the vast amount of photos illustrating the book are images by Man Ray, Berenice Abbott, Cocteau and Kertesz.
