This is a very well illustrated and highly professional summary of an 18th Century French academic Sculptor written at the time of Exhibitions in the USA & France. He has been perhaps overshadowed by his French contemporay Houdon and others such as Canova. Hopefully this work will help to counteract that impression. The photographs do full justice to his ability to bring his sitters to life. The reviews are both detailed and well writen such that this work will remain a standard for decades to come.
