Druing the eighties the office became a major representative of Post-Modernism with the Stuttgart State Gallery, the extension of the London Tate Gallery and the Science Center in Berlin. Since Stirling's death in 1992, Michael Wilford has headed the office and continues the series of pathbreaking projects -for example, the Lowry Center in Salford and the planned British Embassy in Berlin. The present monograph in the Studio Paperback series documents all important buildings and projects. The author, Robert Maxwell, was Dean of the famous Princeton School of Architecture and has written numerous publications in the field of architectural history and theory.
