Rohr describes how following Saint Francis' way to forgiveness and love, and "owning the darkness," can bring us out of the postmodern pit in which we find ourselves.

Richard Rohr is the man who could and did make sense of it all for me. I was angry at religion-horribly angry, but Rohr wrote this book for people like me. I now understand things that I felt viscerally, but I felt out of sync with the rest of the world with my thinking and didn't know how to express. After reading his book, I now enjoy more inner peace coming from my new understanding; that is something that can't be taken away by anyone else. St. Francis had always been a favorite of mine, but in reading this book I became aware (through Rohr's words) the degree to which he was committed to his beliefs, and in a far deeper way than what I had ever understood. Rohr shows how St. Francis' humble wisdom can be used everyday, in the here and now. I highly recommend this book for anyone sitting on the fence or even people who desire spiritual sustenance but have become disillusioned about religion. I am a richer person for having read this book. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Thank you.
