Excellent Film
This movie is an excellent example of very subtle but excellent acting. The characters are finely drawn and beuatifully shown by these two, Mitchum and Kerr; maybe even their finest work.
You'll recognize Huston's honest and probing direction. The viewer is drawn into the hardships of the situation in war, under fire, terrified, pulled in emotional directions never considered. This isn't a film you will forget, even though it's another era, a different war, deceased actors, director, and unlikely story. The attachment the two characters display one for the other is moving, startling even, driven by the closeness people feel when sharing a life-threatening experience, not knowing if there is a tomorrow.
